Kate’s created a winning little pig in this piece!
Kate was asked to a look around her environment to find an object that could be used as the subject of an illustration. Of course, an illustration has to tell a story, so Kate had to sort of animate her subject and build a story around it. She chose a little candle in the shape of a piggy, as her subject. The candle pig wore suspenders, so Kate used them in a gesture to help tell the story.
Looks to me like the pig is awfully proud of himself. I also see lots of prominent words around the pig, and a winner’s ribbon pinned to his pants. Hmmm… a first place winner in a spelling bee for swine!
Thank you.
It’s wonderful to watch Kate and Anna, grow as artists and exceptionally lovely young people.
Love our Kate and her art work, and am so inspired by her teacher! Have been to her cozy art classroom, and loved the atmosphere.
