Portrait

bOportrait2

Finished. A fairly large commissioned portrait of siblings.

My client requested a tightly styled, formal, smiling portrait of the four kids-two sets of twins!

The greatest challenge? Rendering really attractive children.

My world is a wonder of visual candy and foreboding shadow shapes vying every waking moment for my full attention.

  1. I’ve never seen much of your work, except at your mothers house, and I can’t tell you
how impressed I am,and also how fortunate we are to have you in our family. Your
work is simply wonderful. Jennie. I’ll be sure to share this with Donna and Frank.

  2. The fact that I had to scroll waaaaaay down to comment shows how awesome your work is!!! LOL!

BTW..it really is an amazing portrait! It looks so much like a photograph!!!

  3. Holy moly elena! This is fantastic, you have captured the essence of each child and they are all very attractive, beautiful skin tones, just gorgeous, how large is it and how long did it take you? Is it oils? It is amazing!

    1. Thanks Christina! It’s 24″x36″, oil and it took about eight months painting a couple of days a wk. after the photo shoot, including moving heads around in photoshop to arrive at the final composition-got approval, then painted.

  4. It’s pretty impressive how successfully you move between different genres and media. This portrait is very lovely, and realistic of course, but my favorite thing about it is how the kids seem to possess real personalities and are not ‘sentimentalized’ if you know what I mean.

      1. You are too kind. Really;) It’s mostly just a lot of work over many decades and a need to do it. You know-you are talented and work at it too-just a matter of keeping it going:)

  5. This is a superb portrait. I particulerly admire the eyes – they reveal so much character. Indeed, the overall joie de vivre is exciting. I am sure the owner will be delighted. Congratulations Elena.

  6. Pretty good portrait with a glare of youth.
With its life like realism, an impression of their
soul is almost here, giving even spooky feeling.
It is your unique skill to capture something a spirit
and show it in the image.

  7. Oh your work is so delicious – and this one is stunning. You make me want to invest in some oils (and acrylic is being mean to me). Absolutely gorgeous.

  8. Your work is stunning Elena – you’ve captured their peace and happiness. Simply beautiful to see this Sunday morning. So glad you shared this portrait with us.

  9. Congratulations, dear Elena! Your painting is exceptional!
Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Have a wonderful Sunday and many binecuvatari!
Big hugs, much love, Stefania! πŸ™‚
