Watercolor Wednesday

I’m growing quite fond of these two.  They happened upon the paper very quickly and easily.  The ease of their creation is in great contrast with the energy of the little girl in the foreground.  I seem to recall sometimes feeling like each of these girls, while in the company of childhood friends. Either gratefully lost in my own world or feeling excluded from my friend’s faraway thoughts, on those long, hot days of summer.

My world is a wonder of visual candy and foreboding shadow shapes vying every waking moment for my full attention.

  1. ‘They happened upon the paper’:) You make is sound so simple, Elena. Amazing!

  2. Very nice painting, dear Elena. Very nice of illustrated childhood stage.
The boy remained upset because the girl went home?
I hope you have a wonderful day! Big hugs, much love, Stefania! 🙂

  3. Oh my I’m loving this painting! Fantastic body forms and position, and those dresses are so cute. I like how you blurred the piece and yet kept the girl on the right face more sharp – very nice.

  4. How fascinating to read how we viewers see this so differently! I see a spat between them that’s happened many times before, to be repeated, by best friends. Just beautifully simple and evocative!

  5. This painting does send my mind back into memories of childhood, on the play ground or just being outside with old friends. Very kind memories.

  6. It’s strange…the first thing I thought of when I saw this (before reading your description) is that from sitting down, feeling forlorn, back against the world…she stands up and walks forwards, with resolve 🙂
