Cloaked

“Cloaked” is essentially the next- generation in the “Divide Series”.  Much like the original “Divide Series”, there is a barrier-a separation between the individual and the world.  In this new series, the divide takes the form of a headpiece.  Its connotations may or may not be religious,  from a time long past, or a time yet to come.

The surface of each painting is both textured and glossy, much like the feel of old Flemish portraits.  Sorry I’m unable to show you here, but I’m sure you get the idea.

  1. Excellent . Beautiful tehnique.

Being a bit of a Culture Geek, the second one reminds me of Marvel Comics Rogue ( played in movie by Anna Paquin ) 😀

  2. Elena wow just coming back and I realize how much I have missed your great work, but luckily every time I am little better and fit, it is always waiting here. It is great joy to see and inspiring thank you x

  3. Very cool idea 🙂 I love the intensity in the second image here particularly. I’m happy you’re excited for this new series. I am too.

  4. Oh Elena these are incredibly engaging. Beautiful, stirring, powerful. I’m excited about these too!
There is a conversation here too with some painting masters, I think – Bacon, Rembrandt etc., … but these are fiercely feminine and wonderfully yours.

  5. Wow Elena, these are powerful..I too feel the Flemish influence strongly, though also for me they feel very much as if they are in a present moment, when you can neither see forwards or back..actually the more I look the more I see..very intriguing – well done!!

  6. It is fantastic paintings, dear Elena! Heartiest congratulations!
You really super talented! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
All the best to you! Big hugs, Ştefania 🙂

  7. the audience is definitely forced to think about your latest series…..mysterious and thoughts provoking. Very interesting work, Elena. Always nice to come here back and make a new discoveries…… thumb up!!

  8. These are quite intriguing. The Flemish influence feels strong to me. At the same time, there is a strong modern element, almost as if the wearer is possessed by her garment. Fascinating really.
