Alla prima 16″x 20″ Oil on Linen
While struggling with the next set of “Cloaked” paintings, I felt the need to work with a big brush, my favorite male model and some color!
oil painting, painting, portraits
For me this beautiful painting expresses personal freedom, a feeling of stretching beyond limitations that hold us back, seeking higher understanding. It’s a painting with an enormous upward energy boost.
Lovely to hear, Otto. Thank you.
Really like your paintings.
Great strength and sense of stress busting in this dynamic portrait Elena!
So pleased by your comment, Patti. Thank you!
Hello Elena, you have a new post up on ‘strata of the self’:
Sorry I’m a bit late in letting you know.
Nice use of reds…
Thank you, Simon.
Elena, what a strong and impressive portrait. Love the title! 🙂
Thanks so much, Dina!
Beautiful. He looks refreshed and I can see that energy coming through.
I’m glad! Thanks for saying, Allyson:)
The way you separated black and blue to accentuate his head and his face is brilliant. Another winner, Elena!
Wow. I don’t even know what else to say about this one! I know, do more men! 😉
I should! The trouble is that many guys are reluctant models:)
Incredible work, Elena!
Thanks very much, Uday!
A powerful portrait! great use of light and colors!
Thank you very much, Robert!
He really does have amazing eyes. Thank you!
There is so much power in that stretch! One can feel the movement, and looking beyond the immediate.
Thank you, Tiny!:).
There is a great harmony between his pose, expression and the colours in the background. His lucid eyes, his stretched neck with the gradients of blue which is getting more and more vivid emphasize his creative and intuitive personality.Stretching the neck here symbolizes -to me-his connection with mystical realm.Stunning work! 🙂
Oh, how I love your description! And, you have this model pegged perfectly. Thanks so very much!:)
Excellent!… Truly remarkable, dear Elena. All my best wishes to you. Aquileana ⭐
Thank you Amalia. Very best to you as well:)
Your paintings always seem, to me, to be more than just the subject… they always seem to be starting points for stories (:
That’s how I feel when I’m painting-illustrating a soul story. Thank you so VERY much, Chris.
Beautiful loose feel to this piece Elena – wonderful upward strokes in the background and great choice of blue sort of illuminating the figure.
Thank you, Mary.
Powerful and inspiring artwork
Thanks very much.
Full of movement and character, very dynamic.
Thanks much, Marie.
Thanks so much, Carol.
Strength and power!
Thank you, Jeff!
That’s a superb pose and makes for a really dynamic painting. I also love the energy of the blue marks around the head.
Thank you, Laura. I was looking for a place to use that color blue;)
Great portrait – love the powerful brushstrokes – very intense. Have a great weekend, Elena!
Thank you, Richard!
Amazing, and I love his expression, so intensely focused on something, I guess only he knows on what…
So true. Only he knows. Thanks so much!
Extraordinary, looking like the young Caravaggio.
My model was thrilled with your comment, Prospero! Thank you!
I am glad, Elena. Caravaggio was an interesting character in many ways. Congratulations to you and your model for having done something really exceptional.
Indeed, it has something of the young Caravaggio!
I just love your brush strokes. How beautiful they are!
You are so very kind, Maria. Thanks so much!
I felt this man as a dancer on stage, a new Nuryyev (sp?) of a type. Lovely really!
He is certainly flexible and mindful of the angles the body can create. Thanks so much, Susan:)
Thank you, Derrick.
It looks really streeeeched. 🙂
Brilliant, Elena – and I love the light behind his head!
Much appreciated, Marina!:)
