Home 12″x 12″ Oil on Canvas
Probably my first landscape post. I’m not a landscape painter, but the swamp is my home away from home. A portrait was in order.

A late comment – while waiting for new awesome paintings coming up here :-): Even if you don’t consider yourself a landscape painter I love the almost impressionistic strokes in this painting – and still figurative. Beautiful colours, too.
Thanks so very much, Otto:)
Your “home” is alive. After viewing that, I think you ARE a landscape painter – at least when you want to me.
I agree, home is very much alive, but not so much the landscape painter. At least the scene motivated me enough to give it a go. Thanks much, James.
I completely love this painting. Beautiful work.
Many thanks, Allyson:)
Not a lanscape painter? You can paint anything – this is wonderful!
You’re very kind, Tiny. Thank you!
Magical! The only thing missing are some pixies and fairies among the trees!
That’s how it feels when you’re there:) Thanks, Jess
Omg! I think I see a Fairy’s house! A magical piece, Elena!
I’m glad you see the magic as well. Thanks much, Resa!
Unfortunately, many people fail to understand that Nature is everyone’s home.
Yes. She is welcoming but can also act harshly. As long as we understand, she is bountiful.
Wow, love the colors…
Thank you, Robert.
Delightful atmosphere and sense of place – a touch of magic and fairyland.
I’m so please that you see it that way, Louis. Thank you:)
Love back, Jane:)
Well executed reflections
Thank you, Derrick
Wow, I love this, Elena. Good to see you painting again.
Thanks so much. The painting goes on, but the blogging is certainly more sporadic. Not enough hours in the day.
Love the way you’ve treated this. The palette is gorgeous.
Thank you, Richard.
It looks experimental. It has the same bold colours as your portraiture. I like it.
I was experimental:) Thanks, Marie
Lovely scene and wonderful to see nature through your brushes Elena!
Thanks so much, Mary!
more more more! yum more!
Many thanks, Elisa!
Very beautiful choice of complentary colors! Super!
Thank you, Daisy!
Yes please 🙂
🙂 Thanks, John
A beautiful, peaceful scene!
Glad you think so, Donna. Thank you!
Love the reflection.
Beautiful! A portrait indeed.
Wonderful Elena. The reflections are divine!
Ah! Very nice. Evocative in its own way.
Thank you, Carol.
And a magical swamp at that!
So glad you can feel the magic, Prospero!
Looks like my swamp, hence magical–complete with nymphs and pixies and mirrory water.
So glad you are back, Elena. You are wowing us with your new work!
You are a prince, Prospero!
Come to Louisville for swamp-like weather… yeesh.
That’s the advantage of an northeastern swamp. The high humidity is intermittent. One can catch a break:)
You are so lucky. Why did my family settle here…. sigh.
The proverbial grass is always greener;)
