Walking the bird in the rain. I have no idea why ; )
Tighter than my usual watercolor sketches, this one is a little too predictable for my taste. Because I’m literally sketching with the paint, following no pencil guides, I became preoccupied with the horse’s anatomy. She lives not too far from me, so I also struggled a bit to portray her as I have glimpsed her, […]
A couple of really quick watercolor creatures.
For my friends down-under.
This kiity got a little busy and a little muddy with so much subtle information to convey, that I worked some white into it. While I’m not crazy about using opacity in my watercolors, I tried it anyway to bring cohesion to the image. My challenge is to try this subject again, including all her […]
Worried bunny. A big, impressed “Thank you” to “as long as I’m singing” for a fabulous story based on a recent Watercolor Wednesday post. You’ll find Troy’s “Happy Feet” right here.
Last watercolor of “Watercolor Week”. I’ve had fun! Thanks for the “likes” and for your terrific comments!
The butterfly marks 400 posts on this blog:)
Awkward moments, gesture poses.
This week I’m breaking the form. For the next seven days I’ll be posting watercolor sketches while I continue to work on new projects. Not to worry about commenting on each post. I love hearing from you, but I don’t wish to make a pest of myself. Hope you find one of the seven […]
This is a larger watercolor than I usually paint, at 15″ x 22″. The color is also far more restrained than my usual watercolor experiments. There is also a touch of acrylic in this mostly watercolor effort. Upon completion with the watercolor paint, I felt a need to lighten areas of the figure but found […]
I’ve recently found that a big round brush is a fabulous tool for gesture sketching. It simply won’t allow for needless details. The brush point however, is versatile enough to go back into forms to provide corrections and accents. Working exclusively with a big round brush would have felt really uncomfortable for me, just one […]
I’m growing quite fond of these two. They happened upon the paper very quickly and easily. The ease of their creation is in great contrast with the energy of the little girl in the foreground. I seem to recall sometimes feeling like each of these girls, while in the company of childhood friends. Either gratefully […]
The bunny dancer from Watercolor Wednesday and the frog from Photo Friday chat in the forest under a shooting star.
A very simple little watercolor with a small Photoshop tweak, (the angle of the hair drips;)
Celebration at my house! Our furry family has been through a crisis, but everybody just got a clean bill of health! We couldn’t be happier.
A pause within a move…spontaneous figure sketches:
Bold and heavy here-experimenting with darks. I think I prefer lighter, with outrageous color. Perhaps I’ll try the same subject with lots of color for next week…
