It May Be Spring

swampspring

It may be spring, but in my neck of the woods, Mother Nature takes one springy step forward and then two frosty steps back.   A crocus or two have emerged, but nothing much that’s green has appeared yet.  In the swamp however, the migratory birds are back, and all of our bird population is busy with checking out mates and real estate.

All of the photos I’m bombarding you with, were captured yesterday or just a few days prior.

Falling and Dancing

bfall1

That’s what I’ve been doing-falling and dancing, dancing and falling.   I’m painting with a fervent urgency.  In the past month, I have worked through eight oil paintings.  Four I’ve discarded, four are still in play.  I’ll share with you what remains viable when I finish.

The transition of seasons reflects my process, lately.  I’m hoping that pruning work that fails to stretch me this fall will result in stronger work come spring. Hope the new season inspires your creativity as well.

Lively Yellow Warblers

w1

These petite yellow birds dashed playfully about the swamp at such speed, that focusing my camera was much like a playing a video game. As you can see, I was unable to capture any sharp images, but thought I’d give you some idea of their delightful exuberance.

Cherry Fest

Our backyard cherry tree is a fruit eating bird delight site.  Though the tree is full of cherries, the birds are fighting over the choicest, deepest red ones.

Even the least successful still seem content to snatch up the nearly ripe fruit.
